NT Air Hangar Fire Investigation Continues

December 22nd, 2009 ~ No Comments

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Fire investigators and RCMP Forensic experts continued to sift through the rubble today, of what was once the NT Air Hangar at the Prince George Airport. The World War II era building was completely destroyed on Saturday after fire crews arrived to find smoke and flames shooting out of a front office area.

Fire Fighters managed to hold back the flames long enough for quick thinking employees and bystanders to remove the numerous aircraft inside, before flames swept through the hanger area and consumed the entire structure.

Officials are also investigating the possibility that a man may have died in the fire after he was reported missing by family members. His vehicle was found in the parking lot after the fire had been extinguished.

The building was the main office for NT Air and its 70 employees which operate 11 aircraft from three bases around BC. The building was also occupied by Airconsol Aviation Service, BC Air Ambulance and several other organizations including the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association.
