PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Airport welcomed the arrival of a Russian Cargo Plane on Tuesday.

Todd Doherty from the Prince George Airport Authority says that the Ilyushin Il-76 originated in Europe and flew its cargo and passengers to Vancouver in support of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics before arriving in Prince George on Tuesday afternoon.

As a result of space constraints at the Vancouver Airport, due to the Winter Olympics, the decision was made to stage the aircraft in Prince George.

The aircraft, with a crew of 11 will remain in Prince George until Sunday, said Doherty.
