TOFINO, BC – On Saturday May 29, 2010 at approximately 1215 hours Tofino RCMP and Tofino Coast Guard responded to a report of a small aircraft which had crashed into the ocean near Yates Point situated close to Ahousaht BC. Rescue personnel have conducted an extensive search of the area and been unable to locate anyone thus far. The wreckage has not been located.

The RCMP dive team is on route and will attempt to locate the plane at the earliest possible time. At this time police believe that there were four people on board however, this can not be positively verified. It is unknown at this time as to the cause of the crash. Tofino RCMP are continuing their investigation along with the Transporation Safety Board.
