London Air Services Signs Firm Order for Global 7000 Jet

October 22nd, 2010 ~ No Comments

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – Bombardier has announced that London Air Services has placed a firm order for a Global 7000 jet, valued at approximately $65 million U.S., based on the 2010 list price of typically equipped aircraft. LAS is the first Canadian operator to place a firm order for corporate aviation’s newest jet.

“The spectacular Global 7000 business jet captures the essence that has made Global aircraft the most renowned large business jets worldwide and combines this with an impressive range and an incredibly spacious cabin,” stated Wynne Powell, President and Chief Executive Officer, London Air Services. “The additional cabin space and non-stop reach of the Global 7000 aircraft will be a valuable addition to our charter aircraft fleet and will ensure we continue to offer our customers a business jet travel experience that is unmatched in the industry. It’s great to “Be Global”.”

Bombardier officially introduced its flagship Global aircraft family on October 18 at the National Business Aviation Association annual meeting and convention. The Global aircraft family now uniquely covers the large, ultra long-range category with four aircraft models, the Global 5000, Global Express XRS, Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets.

In July 2008, London Air Services became the first Canadian operator to purchase the all-new Learjet 85 aircraft, with firm orders for five jets, and was also the first Canadian operator to take delivery of a Challenger 605 jet. In September 2007, LAS became the launch customer for Bombardier’s new Global Vision Flight Deck and in late 2004, it was the first Canadian operator to take delivery of a Learjet 45 XR aircraft.

The leading charter service provider, based in Vancouver, currently has a fleet of Bombardier business aircraft, including one Challenger 604, two Challenger 605 and six Learjet 45 XR aircraft, as well as three AW 139 helicopters.

“We are absolutely delighted to extend our longstanding relationship with London Air Services,” said Steve Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “Our business is built on the loyalty of our customers and how together we envision the future. I am thrilled that our partnership with London Air Services continues to grow and prosper, and that we both agree that the new Global aircraft family is the way forward.”

Featuring a spacious four-zone cabin, Bombardier’s Global 7000 jet sets the benchmark for a new category of large ultra long-range business jets. With a volume of 2,637 cu. ft., passengers will enjoy 20 per cent more living space than the cabin of the current industry leader. The aircraft will have a high-speed cruise of M 0.90 and a range of 7,300 nm at M 0.85. It will fly London-Singapore, New York-Dubai or Beijing-Washington non-stop with 10 passengers. Entry into service is scheduled for 2016.

London Air Services offers executives private, customized travel worldwide, on state-of-the-art luxury aircraft. The LAS fleet consists of one Challenger 604, two Challenger 605, six Learjet 45 XR aircraft and three AW139 helicopters. With 27 pilots on staff, the LAS crew ensures each business passenger’s needs are taken care of during the company’s 24-hour a day, 7-days a week, executive travel service.
