Plane Crash Located in Yoho National Park

GOLDEN, B.C. – This afternoon at approximately 12:15 pm, the Golden RCMP were made aware of an overdue aircraft possibly in their area which was flying from Southern Alberta to the central interior of British Columbia.

The last known location of the 180 Cessna Plane was near Mount Vaux in Yoho National Park. The plane was occupied by two souls, the male pilot and his dog. The Joint Rescue Coordination Center was made aware of the overdue plane and search efforts were coordinated involving the JRCC, Parks Canada Search Rescue Team and the Golden RCMP.

At 3:15 pm Parks Canada Search and Rescue located the plane with one deceased male. The plane was located in a gorge on Mt. King in Yoho National Park. The deceased male was removed from scene and returned to Golden, BC.

Identify or further details of the deceased male are not being released until next of kin have been notified.

The Golden RCMP will continue to assist the BC Coroners Services and Transport Canada with their ongoing investigations.
