WestJet Announces Service to Bermuda

November 23rd, 2009 ~ No Comments

CALGARY – WestJet today announced it will begin seasonal non-stop service from Toronto to Bermuda, effective May 2010.

“Bermuda is yet one more jewel in WestJet’s Atlantic and Caribbean crown,” said Hugh Dunleavy, WestJet Executive Vice-President of Strategy and Planning. “We look forward to bringing Canadians to the home of pink sand beaches, gorgeous turquoise waters and world-class golf. For Bermudians, we are proud to offer non-stop service directly to friends and family in Toronto and throughout WestJet’s 30-city Canadian network.”

“And with the addition of yet another island destination,” added Hugh Dunleavy, “we will introduce our own unique blend of low fares, high value and a world-class guest experience to a whole new group of travellers.”

Recently voted as the number one island in the Atlantic and Caribbean region by the prestigious Condé Nast magazine, Bermuda is the fourteenth Atlantic/Caribbean destination for WestJet, which also provides Canadians with non-stop service to Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, Cuba, and the Turks and Caicos.

“We are delighted to welcome WestJet to Bermuda,” said the Honourable Ewart F. Brown, Premier of Bermuda, as well as Minister of Tourism and Transport. “Our island home has for a long time had strong business, cultural and educational ties to Canada. With more seats and lower fares that WestJet will undoubtedly bring, both Canadian visitors to our island shores and local residents travelling to Canada will now have a choice in direct air service between Bermuda and Toronto, the centre of Canada’s largest metropolitan area. We look forward to a longstanding relationship with WestJet.”

Bermuda is part of WestJet’s expanded schedule for the summer of 2010. More information on the summer schedule, including new destinations, increased frequencies and the sale of service to Bermuda, subject to applicable regulatory approvals, will be available in mid-December.
