Transport Canada Issues Additional Security Measures

December 26th, 2009 ~ No Comments

OTTAWA – As a result of a suspected terrorist incident on Northwest Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit, additional security measures have been put in place at Canada’s airports for flights to the United States.

Passengers are now restricted to one carry on bag. Additional searches of passengers and their carry on bags will be carried out. Delays can be expected so passengers are advised to arrive at the airport three hours in advance of their scheduled flight.

These measures are expected to be in place at least for several days.

Travelers are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behaviour to authorities.

For information on pre-board screening procedures or air travel within the US, please consult the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) website at http://www.tsa.gov/ or your travel agent.
