CALGARY – WestJet today announced the launch of new, seasonal non-stop service from Toronto to Varadero, Cuba and St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. The inaugural flights departed Toronto’s Pearson International Airport this morning.
“With a lively nightlife, stunning beaches and friendly locals, Varadero is a great getaway in itself,” said Hugh Dunleavy, WestJet Executive Vice-President of Strategy and Planning. “However, as a starting point for visiting colourful Havana, it’s a really popular winter destination for Canadian travellers. We can’t wait to take WestJet guests to this exciting and culture-rich part of Cuba.”
“WestJet is flying to so many exciting new destinations this winter,” said Dunleavy. “One of the most exciting is the culture-rich island of St. Maarten. It’s like getting two trips in one; land into the Princess Juliana International Airport in the Netherlands Antilles section of the island, but have the French part of St. Maarten to visit, too!”
WestJet will fly from Toronto to Varadero and St. Maarten three times per week from now until April 29, 2010.
