CALGARY, AB – WestJet today announced June 2010 traffic results with a load factor of 78.2 per cent. Revenue passenger miles or traffic increased 19.0 per cent year over year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles, grew 10.9 per cent over the same period. The airline flew an additional 139,000 guests in June 2010 compared to June 2009.
“Since June is a month when we transition into the peak travel season, we are very encouraged with this month’s strong load factor, particularly with our significant year-over-year capacity growth,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. “We are also excited about our new everyday low fare structure. This new approach offers lower fares to all destinations year-round, and also lowers our highest fares for last-minute travellers and guests travelling at peak times.”
“As always, our strong results and continued growth are a direct result of the caring and dedicated work of over 7,600 WestJetters across our network,” added Gregg Saretsky. “I thank them very much for their hard work in preparing us for a successful summer.”
