Missing Aircraft Found

WINNIPEG, MB – At approximately 10 a.m. MDT today, search and rescue crews found the Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft that went missing after it departed Norman Wells, N.W.T. on Saturday, July 24, 2010.

Terry Johnson, 75, of Colorado, is the pilot who went missing during his scheduled flight to Peace River, Alta. Sadly, the pilot has been found deceased.

Air Force crews from across Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, as well as Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) volunteers have been participating in the intense search which began on Saturday.

The case has been turned over to RCMP and local authorities. An investigation will be launched to determine the cause.
