VERNON, BC – At about 6:45 pm this evening the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP received a report of a small plane down in the area of six Mile Creek Rd off the west side of Okanagan Lake.
Vernon Search and Rescue were activated to assist the police, the Okanagan Indian Band Fire Department and ambulance personal. All attended the area to search for the aircraft and passengers. Several residents who live nearby and heard the plane go down assisted as well.
Shortly after 8:00PM the RCMP received information that the aircraft has been located and the lone occupant the pilot walked away from the crash. He is being taken to hospital by ambulance personal his injuries are unknown at this time.
Further updates on this crash are expected to be released tomorrow July 29th when further information about the aircraft and the pilot are expected to be made available.
Police are continuing to assist in this investigation.
